2008 Projects

More 2008 Projects

As the year draws to a close. I will attempt to post as many projects that I can that were created within the past year. I must say, practice is improving my quality. Thanks to many assists from my various Yahoo Groups, I am learning new stitches and techniques. Next year I plan to delve into afghans, lapghans, sweaters, rugs, etc.

Yuletide, Christmas, Kwanzaa....

These hats were crocheted in commemoration of the season. They are hats to celebrate, be festive and yet stay warm. Great gift ideas....

Christmas Hats

T'is the season to be jolly. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. It seems moods are cheery or depressed. With today's state of the economy, I can understand feelings of depression. I can't help but feel optimistic. With every newscast reflecting our new president's choices for his administrative team, I feel hopeful and uplifted. The hats pictured here reflect hope, cheer and possibilities. They are the royal colors of the season both Christmas & Kwanza.

"Bird of Paradise"

The learning continued. I also had yellow thread. I forget the number, but I do recall it being thinner than #10. This was very difficult to make. I learned my fingers could cramp crocheting with such thin thread. However, I persevered, designing on the "fly" (as I crocheted). Bird of Paradise was the result. Another original design.

'Shrooms in black & white

I am relatively new to crocheting. I've only been doing it for about a year, now. Therefore, I am still learning and experimenting with different media. I'd purchased some #10 thread and wasn't sure of what to do with it. I wanted to create a hat that could be worn in warmer or cool temperatures. So, a hat made of thread was created. 'Shrooms in black & white evolved. Working with thread was tedious for a novice, however, I was pleased with the results. What do you think? This is another original design.

Purple Passion

This design came in a dream. I don't know why I was thinking of an old cartoon show. One of the main characters was named Beanie and he had a friend named Cecil. Anyway, "Purple Passion" evolved from my memories of that show. I wonder if you'll find any similarities. Let me know! This is an original creation. I know it may seem a bit unusual, but, what can I say. If interested in obtaining the hat and scarf set, contact me for further details.
